Biological membrane
Essential in cells, biological membranes are made of lipids and proteins. They compartimentalyze the cell and play as selective barriers for the interactions with the extra-cellular environment. Biosiris has developed algorithms to simulate the membrane and its interactions with organic components (lipids, drugs, proteins). Using these approaches, we can study the interactions of your drugs with membranes : their mode of insertion, the lipid perturbation and, when required, their capability in inducing membrane fusion. For membrane proteins, the experimental determination of structures remains difficult and molecular modelling is a good way to compensate for this lack of information. Our studies enable us to characterise transmembrane segments, to propose models for soluble loops and, soluble carriers for the production of these loops.
